Bernard and Maria "Mary" Hermann Becker

Bernard Becker, son of Peter and Ana Marie (Kien) Becker, was born in Hüttersdorf, Germany on December 26, 1807. He married Mary Hermann on January 25, 1837 in Bettingen, Germany. Maria "Mary' Hermann, the daughter of Peter and Anna Paulus Hermann, was born August 25, 1819 in Aussen, Germany

Bernard and Mary farmed near Hüttersdorf before coming to America. Two sons, Peter and John, immigrated to the United States in 1869 and farmed east of Exeter, Nebraska. Bernard and Mary, along with three children, came to American in 1872 and settled on a farm near Exeter.

Bernard passed away on September 23, 1884 in Exeter and Mary died August 11, 1894. Bernard and Mary are buried in the Exeter, Cemetery.

Maria "Mary" Hermann Becker


Mary Hermann-Becker was born in Germany in August, 1819 and died at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Menke, near Exeter, Saturday evening, August 11, 1894, aged 75 years.

Mary Hermann was married to Bernard Becker in Germany in 1837, where they resided for a number of years, coming to America in 1872. Seven children, three boys and four girls, were born to bless their union, six of which survive them, Mrs. Mary Hermann of Germany, Peter Becker near Exeter, Mrs. Anna Righter of Germany, John and Nicholas Becker, Anna Menke near Exeter.

Mrs. Becker had been ill for some time, and on Saturday evening the angel of death came and relieved her suffering and called her home to the Father above. The interment was held on Sunday at the Exeter Cemetery and the funeral sermon was preached by Rev. Fr. Simeon on Monday morning. The bereaved children have the condolence of the community in their hour of affliction.
