First Air Mail Flight
Exeter, Nebraska
May 19, 1938

The first airmail fight into Exeter, Nebraska, was on May 19, 1938. The Chamber of Commerce prepared special air mail envelopes that were used by 600 people who mailed letters from Exeter on the first air mail flight.

The fight was scheduled to land at 8:28 AM in the Guthrie Brothers pasture located one and one-half miles north of Exeter. However, the plane was three-fourths of an hour late after being lost in fog after leaving Clay Center, Nebraska.
