Mr. Joe S. Mendez Sr., 66, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2003. Mr. Mendez is the beloved husband of 42 years to Mrs. Sally (Barkmeier) Mendez.

Mr. Mendez is also survived by two sons, Joe S. Mendez and wife, Eva and Mark Mendez; three brothers, Jesse Mendez and wife, Nena, of Gardena. California, Lupe Calleroz, Steve Calleroz and wife, Rosie; two sisters, Margie Ramirez, Terri Doremus and husband Bob; two grandchildren, Brandon and Cody Mendez.

Mr. Mendez was a member of the Catholic Church and a Veteran of the United States Air Force.

A visitation for Mr. Mendez was held Sunday afternoon in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel from 2:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 3:00 pm by Eileen Montoya. A final viewing was Monday morning from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment followed at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Pallbearers were A.J. Auld, Phil Bowen, Fred Oliveras, Fred Dodrell, Bill Melloy and Ed Shaw. Arrangements were by: Gabaldon Mortuary.
