Leonard A. Johnsen


Leonard A. Johnsen was born December 10, 1905, the son of Johannes and Catherine Johnsen at Cordova, Nebraska and passed away April 11, 1975 near Beaver Crossing, Nebraska.

He married Bernetta Mozella Ziegler on May 3, 1928 and engaged in farming a few miles north of Cordova. He was also employed as a grading foreman by Seward County. They had nine children.

Survivors include his wife, Bernetta; sons Gayle, Gresham, Oregon, Duane, Omaha, Dwight, Crete, Paul, Lincoln, Gordon, Geneva; daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Gloria) Heidtbrink, Mrs. Roger (Sondra) Weber, Mrs. Terry (Joyce) Charf, all of Lincoln, Mrs. Wayne (Carolyn) Barkmeier, San Antonio, Texas; brothers, Albert, Cordova, Lawrence and Harold, both of Lincoln; sisters, Mrs. Anna Jensen, Exeter; Mrs. Alma Tillman, Lincoln; 18 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild.

Interment was in Lealand Cemetery near Cordova, Nebraska in Seward County.

 

 


Bernetta M. Ziegler Johnsen


Bernetta Mozella Ziegler Johnsen was born March 10, 1908, the daughter of Carl William "Will" and Lily Gard Ziegler at Beaver Crossing, Nebraska and passed away August 2, 1979 in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Bernetta attended District 20 grade school and graduated from Cordova High School in Cordova, Nebraska in 1926. 

She married Leonard E. Johnsen on May 3, 1928 and they lived on a farm a few miles north of Cordova. They had nine children: Gayle Leon, Gloria LaVaun, Duane Norlyn, Dwight Nolan, Paul Kaye, Sondra Lynne, Carolyn Ann, Gordon Lee and Joyce Elaine.

Bernetta was an accomplished pianist and played duets with her sister Gladys for many entertainment events. Leonard operated their farm and was employed by Seward County as a grading foreman.

Interment was in Lealand Cemetery near Cordova, Nebraska in Seward County.
