Claude Hudgel Barkmeier



Claude Hudgel Barkmeier, 84, of Golden, Colorado, was born in Wray, Colorado to Charles and Frances (Hudgel) Barkmeier on March 12, 1933 and died in Golden on August 16, 2017. He was a US Army veteran, a graduate of the University of Colorado and a lifelong Buff. He worked for the Department of Energy and the Archdiocese of Denver.

He is survived by his wife Mary of 59 years. He is also survived by his three children, John (Claudia) Barkmeier, Steven (Debora) Barkmeier and Catherine (Tom) Satkowski. He had 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Rosary was at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 1985 Miller Street, in Lakewood on Thursday, August 31st at 7:00 pm. A Funeral Mass was held at Our Lady of Fatima Church on Friday, September 1st at 10:30 am. Interment was at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 12801 West 44th Avenue in Wheat Ridge on September 1st at 2:00 pm.

Mary Sue (Gyurman) Barkmeier



Mary Sue (Gyurman) Barkmeier, 84, of Centennial, Colorado, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2021 at the age of 84. Mary rejoined her beloved husband, Claude, to whom she was married for 59 years until his death in 2017. She is survived by sisters, Katherine Zavatchin and Charlene Dortch; her brothers, Charles (Chubby) Gyurman and Kennie Gyurman; her children John Barkmeier, Steve Barkmeier, Catherine Satkowski and their respective spouses, Claudia, Debora and Tom. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Mary was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico on August 16, 1936, to Charles and Frances (Fabec) Gyurman.  Her mother died when she was 16 months old and she was raised by Alex and Sue (Gyurman) Kahre in Arvada, Colorado. She attended Arvada High School and the University of Colorado, where she met and fell in love with Claude. She was an active parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, an avid bridge player, and spent her adult life raising and supporting her family as well as volunteering at the church.
