Mathilda Katherine Becker was born to Jacob Ries and Maggie Emanuel on March 14, 1897 at Ridgeley, Dodge County, Nebraska and passed away on September 2, 1980 at the age of 83 years, 5 months and 20 days. Mathilda was one of ten children. She went to school in Ridgeley and West Point, Nebraska.
Mathilda was united in marriage to Joseph N. Becker of Exeter on September 2, 1925 and to them six children were born. She moved to Exeter after her marriage and resided here for 55 years. She was active in school and church functions for many years. She enjoyed sewing circle and various card clubs, her children and grandchildren
Mathilda was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters. She is survived by here husband, Joseph; sons, Arlan, Roland and Donald, all of Exeter; daughters, Mrs. Lyle (Loretta) Farrell of North Platte, Mrs. Robert (Donna Jean) Welchert of Ft. Calhoun, and Mrs. James (Agnes) Loukota of Friend; 26 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; brothers, Clarence and Nick Ries, Scribner; sisters, Mrs. Marie Harre, Exeter, Mrs. Angeline Loukota, Colorado and Mrs. Elenora Welchert, Omaha.
Services were arranged by Farmer Funeral Home and were conducted at 10 A.M. at St. Stephen's Catholic Church by Rt. Rev. Msgr. H. H. Ingenhorst on September 5, 1980 with interment at the Exeter Cemetery.

Joseph N. Becker, 90, Exeter, died Friday (January 1, 1986) in Friend. Survivors, sons Donald and Arlan, both of Exeter, daughters, Mrs. Lyle (Loretta) Farrell, North Platte, Mrs. Robert (Donna Jean) Welchert, Fort Calhoun, Mrs. James (Agnes) Loukota, Bradenton, Florida, 26 grandchildren and 44 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Exeter. Burial in Exeter Cemetery. The Rosary was held at 9 p.m. Sunday.
Farmer Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
