Obituary
Peter Edward Becker


Peter E. Becker was born July 27, 1877 on a farm southwest of Friend, Nebraska and died at his home in Exeter, Nebraska, Sunday morning, March 8, 1953, at the age of 75 years, 7 months and 9 days.

He spent most of his life in the area of Friend and Exeter. He was married to Miss Barbara Dumpert on April 21 1909. To this union four children were born.

He leaves to mourn his departure his wife Barbara, two daughters, Mrs. Harold Swanson (Eualine) of Lincoln, and Mrs. Harve Johnson (Wilma) of Exeter, two sons, Raymond of Lincoln and Glenn of Denver, Colorado, and seven granddaughters. A grandson, Dale Johnson, preceded him in death. He also leaves one sister, Miss Emma Becker of Friend, and three brothers, Nicholas of Rapid City South Dakota, John B. of Geneva and Theodore of Crete.

Mr. Becker was employed at the factory for Smith's Adjustable Indexes in Exeter, since January 22, 1920. He has enjoyed good health all his life and his sudden passing came as a shock to the entire community

Funeral services were held in the St. Stephen's Catholic Church at Exeter, Tuesday March 10 at 9:30 A.M. with Msgr. P. J. Healy officiating at the Requiem Mass

Interment was in the Exeter Cemetery.

Pallbearer at the funeral were Leo Becker, Bruce Kochendorfer, Walter Dumpert, Walter Barkmeier, Edward Schafer and Guy J. Phelps.

Barbara Elizabeth Dumpert Becker


Barbara Elizabeth Becker was born December 8, 1885 on a farm near Friend, Nebraska. and passed away September 13, 1972 at Warren Memorial Hospital, Friend, Nebraska at the age of 86 years, 9 months and 5 days.

She was born to Henry and Kunigunda Dumpert and was one of six sisters and four brothers. She grew to womanhood on a farm near Friend and the rest of her life was spent in Fillmore County.

She was united in marriage to Peter E. Becker on April 21, 1909 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Exeter, Nebraska. To this union four children were born: Eualine, Wilma, Raymond and Glenn.

She was a devoted Catholic and loving mother and grandmother.

She is preceded in death by her husband Peter E. Becker and one grandson Dale Johnson, five sisters and four brothers.

She leaves to mourn her passing her four children, Mrs. Harold (Eualine) Swanson of Lincoln, Mrs. Harve (Wilma) Johnson of Exeter, Raymond of Omaha and Glenn of Denver, Colorado. Nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held September 15, 1972 at St. Stephens Catholic Church with Msgr. Ingenhorst officiating. Mrs. John Horne, her granddaughter, provided the music with Mrs. Henrietta Harre organist. Interment was in the Exeter Cemetery.
