Roger Keith and Joan Mary (Ekeler) McKay
Miss Joan Mary Eleler and Roger Keith McKay were united in marriage Saturday morning, May 4, 1968, at St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Exeter with Msgr. H. H. Ingenhorst officiating. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Ekeler of Exeter. Mr. McKay is the son of M/Sgt (Ret) and Mrs. Charles D. McKay of Lincoln. Altar arrangements of blue tinted carnations and white gladiolus formed the background for the Nuptial Mass. Slim, floor-length frocks fashioned of powder blue organza over taffeta, were worn by Miss Marguerite Ekeler, the maid of honor, and the bridesmaids, Miss Freda Sudrla, Miss Joyce Ekeler and Miss Linda Ekeler, all of Exeter. Phillip Criley of Ashland served Mr. McKay as best man and Richard Robb of Kearney, Art Johnson of Lincoln and Duane Christiansen of Ansley served as groomsmen. Ushers were Jim Ekeler of Exeter and Tom Swanson of Kearney. Marie Ann Ekeler of Exeter was flower girl and wore a blue dress fashioned after that of the bridesmaids. Paul Doran of Omaha was ring bearer. The bride's wore a gown of misty silk organza and re-embroidered rose point over bouquet taffeta. The sculptured bodice, encircled in a jeweled band of lace, was fashioned with an oval neckline and continental length sleeves. The sheath skirt designed with deep overlays of lace was dramatized with an attached aisle wide train. Her imported silk bouffant veil of illusion fell in a circular sweep from a crystal and pearl encrusted cornet. She carried a cascade of red and white roses. The ceremony concluded with the bride presenting a bouquet of blue tinted carnations and white gladiolus at the Altar of the Blessed Mother. Mr. and Mrs. McKay are residing in Lincoln.
