Timothy Minor and Marie Ann (Ekeler) Nicholas
Marie Ekeler of Exeter and Timothy Nicholas of Sutton were wed June 12, 1981, at the St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Exeter, Nebraska. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Leo Ekeler and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Nicholas, both of Exeter. Msgr. Henry H. Ingenhorst performed the 7:00 p.m. Nuptial Mass. Music was played by Frank, Gayla and Kelly Harre. Songs were "Wherever You Go", "Stand By Me" and "On This Day O Beautiful Mother." Greg Ekeler and Jimmy Due, cousins of the bride, served as altar boys. Lector was Wayne Kuska, cousin of the groom. The bride, escorted to the altar by her father, wore a dress of white Quiana designed with an empire waistline. The Queen Anne neckline was appliqued with venetian lace extending to the shoulder over a sheer yoke. The long fitted sleeves were accented with an embroidered lace insert edged in venetian lace reaching to a point over the wrists. The camelot train fell from the sheer yoke to a cathedral length with a band of matching lace edging the skirt. Her bouquet was an Ewalt Bouquet with a cascade of Sonya Roses and Stephanotis. Sylvia Ekeler, sister of the bride, served as Maid of Honor. She wore an apricot dacron dress with a pleated skirt and drape effect blouse. Her bouquet was of white daisies, peach carnations and baby's breath. The groom wore a silver-gray tuxedo with a white ruffled shirt. His boutonniere wa an apricot rose with Stephanotis. Randy Paulus, cousin of the groom, served as Best Man. Ushers were Paul Ekeler, brother of the bride, and Mark Leif, friend of the groom. They all wore silver-gray tuxedos with white ruffled shirts. Their boutonnieres were peach carnations. The mother of the bride wore a long sweet pea green dress. The mother of the groom wore a long rose dress. Their corsages were of apricot roses. The father of the bride and father of the groom wore tuxedos that matched the groomsmen. Honored guests were Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Harre, grandparents of the bride. Connie Kuska, cousin of the groom, attended the guest book. Hope Nicholas, sister of the groom, passed out rice bags. The reception was held at the Legion Hall in Exeter. Hosts and hostesses were Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Ekeler, uncle and aunt of the bride, and Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Paulus, uncle and aunt of the groom. The wedding cake, baked by Gladys Peterson, was cut and served by Shari Michl, sister of the groom, and Eileen Ekeler, cousin of the bride. Serving the bridal table was Francine Ekeler, cousin of the bride, and Valerie Harre, cousin of the groom. Gift takers were Dena Harre and Melinda Harre, cousins of the bride. Following the reception, the couple opened their gifts. The gifts were recorded by Corinne Weldon, friend of the bride. After a honeymoon trip to Yellowstone, the couple will reside in Sutton, where Tim is sports editor for the Clay County News. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Nicholas, parents of the groom, hosted a prenuptial dinner at Mason's Highway Cafe on Thursday evening following the rehearsal.
