Frank Ferdinand Barkmeier
Frank "Franz" Ferdinand Barkmeier owned an 80 acre farm southeast of Exeter, Nebraska, in the Exeter Township in Fillmore County. The farm was immediately east of the 80 acre farm of Franz's brother, George Henry Barkmeier, and his wife, Anna Catharine (Wiszmann) Barkmeier. The farm site was located one and a quarter miles east of the intersection on the road that continues straight east of Exeter on Highway 6 before the S-shaped curve, then one mile south and another half mile east on the south side of the road.

Following the death of his father, Frederick John Barkmeier, the farm of his parents was listed on a 1927 plat map as owned by the heirs of Frank Barkmeier. This 160 acre farm was located northwest of Exeter in the Fairmont Township in Fillmore County. Franz's sister, Anne Marie (Barkmeier) Ekeler, and her husband, Frank Ekeler, farmed just north and east across the road from his parents farm.
