Howard Dill
Caples, 68, of 4650 North Olive Street, Gladstone, Missouri, former
district manager for Safeway Stores Inc., died Saturday, January 30,
1982, at the Kansas Medical Center. He lived in the Kansas City area for
19 years. Mr. Caples was
manager of the Central Missouri District for Safeway until he retired in
1976. He was a member
of the First United Methodist Church in North Kansas City. He was a
member of the Masonic Blue Lodge, the Scottish Rite Bodies and the
Ararat Shrine. He was born
November 1, 1914 in Belvidere, Nebraska, the son of Hallie Eugene and
Emma Bell (Dill) Caples. He graduated from Belvidere High School with
the Class of 1930. He leaves his
wife, Vivian R. (Thompson) Caples; a son Dennis H. Caples, Independence,
Missouri; a daughter Mrs. Margaret A. (Caples) Kirkpatrick, Des Moines,
Iowa; a brother Richard J. Caples, San Pedro, California; and three
grandchildren. Services were
held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 1, at the McGilley Antioch Chapel.
Graveside services were at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, February 2, at the
Resthaven Memorial Gardens Cemetery, West Des Moines, Iowa. The family
suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.

Vivian Caples
Eickoff, 92, formerly of Gladstone, Missouri, passed away on Friday,
December 26, 2008 at the Urbandale Health Care Center in Urbandale,
Iowa. Graveside services were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Resthaven
Cemetery in West Des Moines. Vivian was born in
Anoka, Nebraska on April 30, 1916 to Lena and Herbert Thompson. She
married Howard Caples in 1936. After a full and adventurous life
together, Howard passed away in 1982. In 1991, Vivian married Lloyd
Eickhoff and had ten fun filled years with him. Lloyd died in 2001. Mom loved to
travel, play bridge and be with her family. To know her was to love her.
She will always be remembered for her wit, kindness, generosity and
ability to love. She will be greatly missed. Vivian is survived
by her children, Dennis (Marilyn) Caples and Margaret (Duane)
Kirkpatrick; grandchildren, Steve (Sherry) Caples, Mark (Stephanie)
Caples, Julie (Bill) McGinn; great-grandchildren, Zachary, Dalton,
Sawyer, Boone, Parker and Harrison Caples, Joe and Madisen McGinn. Thank you to the
