Victoria "Dora" Margaret Becker was born to Peter and Barbara Becker on September 9, 1888 at Exeter, Nebraska, and passed away on November 1, 1982 at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva at the age of 94 years, 1 month and 22 days. She was one of eight children in the family. Miss Becker was retired. Her father immigrated to America from Aussen, Germany. He worked in the Pennsylvania coal mines until hearing of the free land out west that could be had for living on a homestead claim for five years. When he saw the prairie grass growing three feet tall, he decided the land must be of good tilth, so took a homestead claim in 1869 southeast of Exeter. Victoria was preceded in death by parents, brothers and sisters. She was the last surviving member of the pioneer family of Peter and Barbara Becker. Funeral services were conducted from the St. Stephens's Catholic Church in Exeter, Nebraska, on November 4, 1982 at 11 a.m. with Rt. Rev. Msgr. H. H. Ingenhorst officiating. Rosary service was recited from the Farmer Funeral Home in Exeter at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday evening. Those serving as pallbearers were: Leonard Emanuel, Edward Emanuel, John Emanuel, Vincent Emanuel, Eugene Emanuel and Leon Coatney. Interment was in the Exeter Cemetery, Exeter Nebraska. Farmer Funeral Home of Exeter had charge of arrangements.
