EKELER - DUE

Miss Kathleen Ann Ekeler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ekeler of Exeter, became the bride of Mr. Dean L. Due, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Due, also of Exeter, on September 10, 1966 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Exeter. The Rev. Msgr. L. V. Barnes of Friend solemnized the 2 o'clock double ring ceremony.

The church was decorated with baskets of red gladioli and white mums. Red and white net centered with a red bow marked the pews.

The nuptial music was provide  by Mrs. Jerome Harre, who also accompanied Mr. Jim Taylor singing "Blessed Be This Day" and "Ave Maria."

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a formal gown of peau taffeta. The superbly sculptured bodice of Chantilly lace was designed with jewels. The long sleeves tapered to the traditional bridal point over the wrist. The very bouffant skirt, worn over stiffened petticoats, featured a panel of lace down the front. A band of lace highlighted the peplum and continued on the double flounces that cascaded into an aisle wide chapel train. Her shoulder bouffant imported silk veil of illusion was held by a crown designed of seed pearls. The bride's only jewelry was a single strand of pearls which was a gift of the groom. She carried a cascade of roses.

Mrs. Jim Anderson of Exeter was her sister's matron of honor. Miss Carolyn Baran of Lincoln was bridesmaid and Miss Kathy Johnson of Exeter, cousin of the bride, was junior bridesmaid. Their street length dresses featured a red bodice with a scooped neckline and natural waist with skirts of red chiffon over red taffeta. Their elbow length sleeves were accented by matching lace which also appeared around the waist. Matching headpieces of a large rose with pearls centered around the bud held the tiered veils of silk illusion. Their bouquets were a single spike of a white gladiolus with a red rose in each floret.

Daryl Styskal, friend of the groom, was groomsman and Don Due, brother of the groom, was groomsman. Gary Gill of Friend and Ronnie Ekeler of Exeter were ushers. The groom and his attendants wore white dinner jackets and dark trousers. The groom wore a red rose boutonniere and his attendants wore red carnations.

Flower girls were the Misses Ann and Sylvia Ekeler, cousins of the bride. They wore white dresses and headpieces with flowers holding the tiered veil of illusion. Ring bearer was Tony Petersen, cousin of the groom. He was attired identically as the groomsman.

Mr. and Mrs. Monte Hanson were host and hostess at the reception which followed at the American Legion Hall. Miss Betty Krejdl registered the guests at their arrival.

The reception table was centered with the traditional Bride's Cake and a Danish Wedding Ring Cake. Cutting the bride's cake were Mrs. Leo Ekeler of Exeter, aunt of the bride, and Mrs. Dale Peterson of McCool, aunt of the groom. The groom's cake was served by Mrs. Clifford Peterson of Waco, aunt of the groom. Pouring coffee was Mrs. Harvey Johnson of Exeter and dipping punch was Mrs. Alfred Ekeler of Exeter, both aunts of the bride. Mrs. Fred Ekeler of Exeter, aunt of the bride, and Miss Diane Konkoliski of Lincoln, served the ice cream. Miss Rene Toombs of Lincoln was in charge of the nuts and mints.

Miss Louise Orr of Lincoln, Miss Margie Ekeler, Miss Mary Dinneen, Mrs. Norman Bristol, and Mrs. Ronnie Ruhl opened and arranged the gifts. Serving the bridal table were Misses Mary Jane, Joyce, Linda, and Connie Eleler and Sharon Petersen, all cousins of the bridal couple. Assisting with the preparation and serving were the Mmes. Arnold Geiger, Ray Geiger, J. W. Dinneen, Anton Krejdl, John Hassler, Wm. Becker, Matt Wiszmann and Miss Elaine Krejdl.

For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Ekeler wore a rose color ribbon knit dress with white accessories. The groom's mother chose a gold crepe dress with matching accessories. Their corsages were white gladioli petals with a red rose in each floret.

For her going-away costume, the bride chose a royal blue dress with red accessories. Her corsage was taken from her bridal bouquet. After a trip through Colorado and Wyoming, the couple will live on a farm north of Exeter.
